Rebecca Brooks

Becky qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1993 and worked in mixed practice for a number of years. She became a partner in a practice in the north of England in 1999 where she also became first involved with Veterinary Nurse training.

She moved to Lincolnshire in 2004 and continued her career in mixed practice and in 2011 she undertook training in Veterinary Physiotherapy.  This led her on to taking her teaching qualifications and eventually lecturing at Nottingham University School of Veterinary Medicine.  There she enjoyed teaching students Canine and Equine Veterinary Physiotherapy until 2018.

She returned back to clinical practice  in 2021 and has been actively involved in the RCVS  Graduate Development Programme for a significant number of recently qualified veterinary surgeons.

Becky is back lecturing again at RVNC and has written our VTECH Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing(Companion Animal) course.  She is responsible for the day to day running of the college and is the student point of contact.

Becky has a young family and enjoys spending her spare time on her farm with her sheep and Exmoor ponies.

Amy Howland

I began my career in mixed practice in 2003 and qualified as an RVN in 2007. My experience has primarily been in small animal practice, with a particular focus on feline nursing, anaesthesia, and analgesia. In 2008, I qualified as an A1 Assessor and later as a Clinical Coach, supporting numerous nurses through their SVN training. I also hold SQP status and additional qualifications, including EAT, IQA and IAG.

Since 2021, I have worked in veterinary nursing education. In my free time, I am pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education. At home, I enjoy the company of my husband, son, stepdaughter, three dogs, three cats, a corn snake, and more horses than is probably healthy!

Rachel Cooke

Rachel qualified as an RVN in 2008, working in a busy and mixed practice, prior to working in a busy SA hospital including OCH’s work.

She qualified as an assessor and clinical coach and became training manager for a large veterinary group, prior to moving into VN education in 2012.

She has been assessor, lecturer, LQA and more recently head of centre for a training provider.

She has taught on VNL3, L2VCA and Animal Care and Management courses (City & Guilds, C+G and VetSkill).

She has all the relevant teaching qualifications and is also an OSLE examiner.

She has three young boys, enjoys exercising, walking and training her dogs, and spending time with her family and friends.
